The most beautiful sunny spots in Sand in Taufers

#1 The new sun terrace at Hotel Alte Mühle

It is our pride and joy and has become incredibly beautiful: the terrace in front of and around our house. In 2022, we already breathed new life into our "Bruggmilla" next to the Ahr promenade with lots of natural wood, and in the summer of 2023, we'll do one better: the terrace area by the main entrance is brand new, complete with barrier-free stairways and parking spaces directly in front of the hotel door. Because we actually wanted to talk about the sun: This is the absolute hotspot for everyone who wants to enjoy themselves. Enjoy a coffee in the morning sun or treat yourself to a refreshing sundowner. We are sure that our new terrace will become THE new hotspot in Sand in Taufers. Because we have a lot in the pipeline, stay tuned!

#2 At the paragliding launch site high above the village

When the village below is already in the shade, the upper level is wrapped in golden evening light. If you want to catch a few rays of sunshine quickly, hop in the car and take the road towards Ahornach. After a good 10 minutes you'll have reached the Falkenclub launch site. There, where the paragliders take off early in the morning, you can enjoy an unbelievably great view of the Tauferer Boden and the Kronplatz.

#3 The Moritzner Höhenweg

If you prefer to walk a little further, start from the Old Mill and take the "Oachkatzlweg" towards the castle, walk past the castle café and back towards the hotel. I bet you'll find your personal favourite spot up here to soak up the sun.

#4 At the Sonnklarhütte on Speikboden

The name says it all: sunshine is at home up here. If you climb into the gondola in the Speikboden skiing and hiking area, you will be rewarded with a panorama that will take your breath away for a moment. At 2,400 metres, at the absolute box seat of the Zillertal Alps, stands the Sonnklarhütte. In 2014 it was even voted the most beautiful ski hut in South Tyrol. No wonder. The peaks line up like a string of pearls in the 360-degree panorama. Athletes can start countless hikes from here, but there is absolutely nothing to stop them from simply filling their bellies with hut delicacies and enjoying the mountain sun.

#5 At the natural bathing pond at the Cascade Sand in Taufers

The future of the Cascade itself is still written in the stars. But even this summer 2023 you can make yourself comfortable at the natural bathing pond. On the shore or on the bathing jetty, it's wonderful to work on that crisp summer tan. If you are travelling with little water rats or like to swim yourself, you can swim your laps in the cool water here in exceptionally beautiful surroundings.
