Yes, it’s very easy. You can take the train to Bruneck and from there reach Sand in Taufers via a convenient local bus service. The bus station is in the centre of the village, just a few minutes’ walk from the Alte Mühle. Thanks to the South Tyrol Guest Pass, you can travel for free on public transport throughout the province of Bozen.
Yes, free parking spaces are available for guests in front of the hotel.
Prices include bed and breakfast or gourmet half-board. They may be quoted per person per day, per week or based on a specific package.
Yes, we apply different rates for stays of 1 to 4 days and for stays of 5 days or longer.

Unfortunately, circumstances may arise where you have to cancel a holiday you have already booked. Should this happen, please notify us promptly. The following cancellation terms apply:
- cancellation received up to 31 days before arrival: no charge
- cancellation received between 30 and 15 days before arrival: the deposit is retained
- cancellation received between 14 and 8 days before arrival: 50% of the booked stay is charged
- cancellation received between 7 days and 1 day before arrival: 90% of the booked stay is charged
- in the event of early departure or no-show, the full cost of the booked stay is charged
Important: we only accept cancellations made in writing! These cancellation terms apply regardless of whether the cancelled rooms are subsequently re-let, either partially or fully.
Yes, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance for your own protection and ours. The day gets off to a great start with a rich breakfast buffet: homemade bread, our own jams, and a wide range of regional products. In the afternoon, we treat you to homemade cakes and savoury specialities. Dinner consists of multiple courses, which you can freely select from our daily changing menus featuring South Tyrolean and Mediterranean delicacies.
Breakfast is served from 7.00 am to 10.30 am, and afternoon snacks are available from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. We look forward to welcoming you for dinner between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm.
Yes, certainly! At the Alte Mühle, you have free access to the Mühlbadl, a charming Alpine spa with stone and wood interiors featuring an indoor pool, various saunas, an infrared cabin, cosy relaxation areas, and a fitness room. We also offer beauty treatments and massages for a fee. Wellness is at the heart of the Alte Mühle experience.
The Alte Mühle offers saunas to suit every taste: in addition to the Finnish sauna made of larch and stone pine and the aromatic herbal sauna (38°C with 60% humidity), our Alpine spa features a spectacular slate grotto housing two distinct saunas with varying humidity levels. An infrared cabin is also available.
At our beauty farm, you can enjoy massages and beauty treatments using natural and organic products made from local herbs. Our Alpine wellness programme includes, for example, massages with arnica and St John’s wort, relaxing wild thyme or stone pine baths, and a rejuvenating hay scrub.
You can book massages and treatments directly at the hotel or from home using the form found in our "Reguest" booking system.

The wellness area and pool are open daily, with specific operating hours: the sauna is open from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm, and the pool from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.
Children may access the pool with you. Access to the sauna area is restricted to guests aged 12 and older.
Yes, we provide bathrobes, towels, and pool slippers free of charge; you will find them in your room upon arrival.
There are plenty! You can explore the nearby Taufers Castle, either on your own or on a guided tour, or take a lovely walk from the hotel to the impressive Reinbach waterfalls. The Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, with its glaciers and unspoilt nature, is also just a short walk from the Alte Mühle. Other interesting destinations in the area include Bruneck, Kronplatz, and the themed trails of the Ahrntal, such as the St Francis Trail and the Hans Kammerlander Trail.
Yes, the Alte Mühle is an ideal base camp. The Ahrntal is a hiker’s paradise, boasting 850 km of trails, 80 peaks exceeding 3,000 metres, 8 alpine huts and more than 50 “malghe”, the typical South Tyrolean mountain farms, where you can taste local food. You can choose between a leisurely walk along the valley floor and magnificent high-altitude routes. At the hotel, we provide telescopic trekking poles and Nordic walking poles free of charge.

In winter, the Ahrntal Valley transforms into a true paradise featuring four ski areas. The lifts for the Speikboden ski area are located just a short distance from the Alte Mühle. There are also groomed trails for winter hiking, snowshoeing trails, toboggan runs, and cross-country skiing tracks. Fun in the snow is guaranteed for the whole family!
Just a stone’s throw away! Although it enjoys a peaceful location along the banks of the Ahr stream, our hotel is very close to the village centre. Shops, coffee bars and the bus station can all be reached on foot in just a few minutes.
Yes, there is a free ski bus service. The stop is a 5-minute walk from the Alte Mühle.
The South Tyrol Guest Pass is a digital guest card that allows for free travel on public transport throughout the province of Bozen. We provide it to all our guests, for eco-friendly holidays without the stress of driving and parking. The Guest Pass also entitles holders to free use of the Speikboden and Klausberg lifts during the month of June, as well as discounts on excursions and activities organized by the local tourist board.

Yes, your four-legged friends are welcome! However, they are not permitted in the wellness area and the dining room. If you wish to have breakfast or dinner with your dog, you will be assigned a table in the hotel bar.
Yes, a daily surcharge of between €20 and €35 (excluding food) applies to cover the extra sanitization measures required to maintain our hotel's high standards of hygiene.
