If I want to move away from the hustle and bustle, the peaceful cross-country skiing trails are a great attraction. Always accompanied by the impressive backdrop of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park, I can enjoy the winter landscape here and also do my health some good too. The altitude is perfect for never-ending fun and variety! The Valli di Tures e Aurina is part of the Dolomiti Nordic Ski, Europe’s largest cross-country skiing carousel with 1000 km of trails. That, I believe, speaks for itself!
If I don’t fancy downhill skiing, cross-country skiing or hiking, I grab a toboggan and make my way to the nearest natural toboggan run in Rio Bianco or the Klausberg. No, it’s not just children who love zooming downhill on two runners! Moonlight tobogganing is absolutely amazing. Very romantic beneath the stars. Then pop into a rustic hut for an evening in the mountains.
If this all seems too adventurous for me, I walk to the artificial ice rink in Campo Tures, which is just a few minutes walk from my Hotel Alte Mühle. Here, I can either go ice skating or curling and have a hot drink afterwards. Or I can drive to Cadipietra or Lutago, where the low temperatures transform the waters into areas of natural ice. I can hire the equipment I need for these sports locally. There’s no need to carry everything around with me.
My moments in the snow
Cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating in Valle Aurina
Sunny cross-country trails, high altitude trails or circular trails for a variety of cross-country skiing activities. Natural toboggan runs for fun by day and by night. Natural ice areas for ice skating and curling. Ice climbing on the waterfalls. Well, where can you find something like that? In the holiday region of Valli di Tures e Aurina in South Tyrol! My very own winter sports paradise in the mountains. A place where I can do and experience something new with my whole family every day. There’s no time to be bored. Up the winter 1017/18 in Rein in Taufers you find also a biathlon center.
