My hiking paradise

Nature discovery at every step

More than 80 three-thousanders. 164 working huts and alpine pastures. 7 refuge huts. 850 km of hiking routes for all levels of ability. Rushing streams and impressive waterfalls. May I introduce: my hiking region Valli di Tures e Aurina. As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the most spectacular hiking regions in South Tyrol. Whether I fancy taking a casual stroll with my family over the numerous alpine pastures or whether I prefer to climb a summit in the early hours of the morning. I can choose a new destination every day here. And the trails are always very clearly marked.
The sun shines down from on high and the mountains are calling. Today I opt to take a guided hike with the host Sepp. Hardly anyone knows the Valle Aurina as well as he. So, I’m happy to take advantage of his expertise. Every now and again, Hans Kammerlander – the South Tyrolean extreme climber and friend of the family – joins the party. My hiking tour starts right on the doorstep of the Hotel Alte Mühle. I just have to lace up my hiking boots and off I go. Sepp leads me past refreshing mountain streams. Past flora and fauna. With the magnificent mountain scenery as my constant companion. We take a break at one of the numerous alpine huts in the middle of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park. I opt for a hearty Tyrolean cold ham platter and a home-made elderberry juice. Delicious! Then our tour takes us to one of the mountain lakes. Our hiking destination. One of the many favourite hikes for our host and hiking friend Sepp. And now one of my favourite hiking routes, too
